What Is The Difference Between Abridged Vs Unabridged Audio Book

January 4th, 2009

MP3 audio book downloads

Audio books are more popular today than ever, in part because people are so busy nowadays and being able to listen to a recording of a book can be a great time saver. In addition, the ready availability of digital versions of books to play on an iPod or other favorite audio book player makes them very convenient as well. However, sometimes when people are shopping for a new audio book to add to their collection they are surprised to see both an unabridged audio book and an abridged audio book version of the same title.

There are many people who don’t realized that they might want to look for the unabridged audio book version when they were buying a new audio book, but had simply bought whatever was featured or listed as the most popular for that particular title. In fact, a very good percentage of all audio books on the shelves of bookstores or available as audio book downloads are actually the abridged version and many people purchase them without even realizing that fact. Still, the question remains, what is the real difference between the two types of audio books on sale?

The unabridged audio book version contains every last word from the book, just as it was released in print. An abridged audio book version will have been edited to one extent or another. In some cases, this editing is either done by the author or under their supervision. In other instances, a publisher who purchased the rights to the book has free reign to edit the work at their discretion.

What this means is that an abridged work, whether in the form of a printed book, an electronic ebook, or an audio book on CD or MP3, does not contain the complete and original work of the author. An unabridged audio book, on the other hand, will be read by the author or by a voice-over artist and every single word in the volume will be recorded as the audio book. Therefore, the unabridged version will be as close to the original message and intent of the author as one can possibly get without inviting the author over for a personal reading.

This may bring up the question, why would anyone buy anything except an unabridged audio book? There are many reasons for this, but the primary reason is to make the recording shorter. This allows the listener to listen to the audio book in less time and when dealing with very long tomes, this can be a great benefit if time is short and if the listener simply wants to be able to get the gist or the highlights of the book by listening to a shortened audio version.

One reason people seek out the shorter, abridged versions of audio books on CD is so that they can use them as a review of material that they have already read. This can be helpful to students preparing for exams, or to a business man preparing for a presentation based on a certain book, or even just to enjoy a quick refresher of a favorite novel.

But, there are a lot of people who simply feel that they are going to miss an element of the original that is important to understanding the full story, if they get the abridged recording. In that case, the unabridged audio book will be the better choice and will help the listener to relax and simply soak in the recording with the assurance that they are not missing a thing.

Consider These Factors When Buying a Motor Scooter

January 4th, 2009

Looking to ditch that gas hog of a car and find an economical motor scooter? You’re going to return home with a scooter that will do little more than act as a clothes hanger in your carport unless you follow some quick guidelines.

Power

Motor scooters might come in a wide range of body shapes and sizes, from small-engined “knock abouts” to large motorcycle replacements. Consider your needs and how you’ll be using the scooter. If it’s only for neighborhood riding, there are any number of small, cheap scooters that would fit the bill. Perhaps a 125 or 150 would be the largest to consider.

Fit

Many scooter buyers choose a look, rather than purchasing a fit. This is the surest way to ensure a bad investment. Fit becomes increasingly important as operator time increases and is one of the main determinants of safety, so don’t ignore it!

Make sure that your hands are in a good, comfortable position when riding, and that the controls, clutch, and brakes are well within reach. And don’t forget to check the seat. While soft seats seem to be more comfortable at first, they usually result in soreness faster than firmer seats.

Style

Check out various models online before you head into a showroom where buying pressure can result in you walking out with something you would not have purchased without pressure. There are plenty of slick, new models, but you’ll also find a wide variety of classic models for sale.

Price

Similar to cars, motor scooters lose their value immediately upon leaving the lot. What makes this situation worse is that scooters usually don’t receive the same level of annual mileage as cars or even motorcycles, so the immediate depreciation is a harder hit. In a year, you could see a 30 percent or more decrease in resale value for a scooter that has barely been used.

For this reason, be sure to look at more than just local dealers. There are several good resellers online who will provide you with a good selection at good prices. And you can find these motors scooters without putting up with pushy salesmen!

So remember, before you got to your local showroom and pick up that flashy new model, be sure that you’re clear on how you intend to use your new scooter, and then consider the power, style, fit, and price.

I’m Pretty Sure I’m in Like With Anthropologie Clothing Stores

January 4th, 2009

Urban Outfitters is a fashionable brand in retailing, but it wasn’t until last week that I found out about Anthropologie. If you haven’t heard, seen, or visited an Anthropologie retail store, you are missing an experience, no kidding.

After visiting the store, I dug up some stats that surprised me. Here’s one that really made an impact: the typical Anthropologie customer spends 80 minutes in the store per visit. Eighty — that’s an hour and twenty minutes on each trip. Can you guess how much time the typical shopper spends with other retailers? Fifteen minutes. That’s an amazing figure that should convey loads about the feel of the stores.

Anthropologie was founded to capitalize on patrons of the Urban Outfitters store who outgrew UA’s fashions. As such, the target customer for Anthropologie clothing is a 30 to 40′ish professional woman with high disposable income. Not a bad market to target!

Ask ten women how they feel about Anthropologie and you’ll probably get . . . one opinion! Almost unanimously, women love the store, but aren’t crazy about the prices. Granted, they are steep, but for good reason. Anthropologie is extremely selective and exclusive with their clothing lines, and just about everything you find in a store is a limited edition run. Heck, they even have a good number of one-of-a-kind items!

These items tend to sell out very quickly, leaving mismatched items here and there, but that leads to an opportunity for buyers: namely, sales racks. There are a bunch of discounted items if you don’t mind searching, which I’m sure is partly responsible the average length of stay.

What I like most about Anthropologie clothes is the distinctive styling. Their fashions include a lot of floral prints, appliques, and delicate details, but look classy and sophisticated at the same time. The feeling that I get is that it’s a clothing line for successful women who don’t feel that they have to reveal half of their bodies to look sexy. Touchdown, I’d say.

If you’re really looking for a bargain, you can find discount Anthropologie clothing online – not through the official store, but through other outlets. I can’t imagine that these items are wholesale, and with the high turnover in clothing, I would doubt it’s made up of last season’s items either, but the price is attractive!

Bottom line: if you haven’t yet stepped foot in an Anthropologie store, find out if there’s one near you. It really is a great shopping experience. But beware of the prices!

Investing in Costa Rica: What You Should Know

January 4th, 2009

Real estate investors have a saying,The only three things that matter in real estate are location, location and location. We all understand that a ten bedroom, eight bath home with cathedral ceilings and a swimming pool that is sitting next to a garbage dump has no value.

On the other hand a little one bedroom, one bath shack sitting in the middle of downtown Boston might be worth a small fortune. So you can see that the location is of the utmost importance when you are considering a piece of real estate to invest in.

The same thought process holds true when you are considering investing in Costa Rica. Costa Rica property has been returning at very high levels, since investment first began there.

Like in any other situation, you should ask yourself, “what makes the location of a piece of real estate a must have? The answer is fairly simply really. The value is based on nothing more than the desirability factor. Desirability is individual and is really hard to nail down.

Property that is totally undesirable to one person might be just the next person’s dream-come-true. And this phenomenon is true for real estate investors and for home buyers and for renters. It is true for all aspects of the real estate market.

The main point for any real estate investor to consider first is what their strategy will be for making money from the investment. The profit strategy determines whether the location of the property is good or bad and buying is only half the equation.

For example, prime real estate is the best choice if you are planning to purchase a property with the intention of just waiting for the market to rise. Locations that are near entertainment centers or newly developing areas would be best because the likelihood is pretty good that that the property will increase in value with little other effort.

On the other hand, if you are planning to invest in a property with the intention of renting it and making a monthly income from it, you might be better off to look into urban properties. Urban properties wouldnt always be considered prime real estate but they are prime rental properties. What these properties may lack in space or amenities, they make up for by being very close to the action.

And we can’t forget the real estate investors who are handy with their hands. These kinds of investors enjoy renovating, and will buy properties below market value. They can make repairs and renovations to rundown properties themselves, sell it for a great deal more than their purchase price and make a very nice profit. These kinds of investors find that the location which works best is in a neighborhood made up of medium priced homes.

There are many factors that real estate investors consider when they are deciding which property to invest in. Knowing what kind of investor you are, and what your profit strategy is for the investment will help you decide where and how to find the perfect property in the perfect Costa Rican location.

Brute Force SEO Early Birds Need To Be Affiliates

January 4th, 2009

Brute Force SEO is going to to hit the market.
I have been keeping tabs on the launch process since the beginning and been pretty impressed. Some people would say that the launch started back when he offered the first of his BadAss SEO tools and reports.
I bet his strategy, from the outset, was to launch an integrated product - a BadAss SEO system. If I am correct then I have to say that I think the Brute Force SEO name is better than BadAss.

Anyway, one of the interesting elements of the launch has been that he has been enrolling early bird registrations as affiliates.

Why is this important?

Every person registering with Brute Force SEO as an affiliate will get a discounted price when they subscribe to the system. These early affiliates will also get to make a profit on their sales.
Problem is that he is limiting the number of affiliate slots (and early bird signups) to just 1000 people.
So, in order to get an assurance of the lower price subscription you need to sign up as a Brute Force SEO affiliate - simply signing up for the early bird notification list is not enough!

Yesterday Pete sent out an email telling us that of the 1000 affiliate slots less than 200 are still open. This means that even if you already signed up to the early bird list that you really should get on the Brute Force SEO affiliate list while you can.

To sign up you simply need to go to Brute Force SEO for info and sign up as an affiliate. You need to pay one dollar through PayPal and this registers you on his affiliate system - you get immediate payouts of affiliate fees with no withholding period.

Merchant Account Comparison - A Quick Guide To Compare Merchant Accounts

January 2nd, 2009

Being able to take credit cards is very important to any website wanting to successfully sell products and services on the Net. Back in the early days of the Internet it was understood that relying on credit cards was not ideal, because it was forcing an offline system to the Internet. New companies trialled virtual currencies for example “flooz”, but none of the e-currencies took off. The truth is, ten years on from the commercial birth of the Internet, still getting our plastic out of our wallets to buy on the web and accepting credit cards when selling products online is still vital.

There are basically two different ways to accept credit cards online. Let’s compare merchant accounts. A business can either go for a full merchant account, which allows them to process credit cards via a bank gateway, or the business can go with a third party processor, who processed the credit card charges for the business selling the products. Obtaining a full merchant account costs more initially, but has lower per sale fees. Using a third party payment service costs less initially, but has more expensive per item costs.

Deciding whether or not to get a full merchant account or use a third party service provider is just a question of crunching the numbers. Let’s look at two different business types and compare merchant account benefits…

Usually, merchants who are actively trading offline and simply want to start selling on the Internet will most likely be suited to obtaining a merchant account. Most likely, Usually they will already have an offline merchant card processing account and will expand the remit of that account to also do “MOTO”, which is “Mail Order Telephone Order” processing and simply means that the card holder is not there at the time of purchase.

For one-person businesses starting to sell products online, it is strongly suggested that they begin by testing their marketing using a third-party solution. The advantage to the new business is that there’s hardly any upfront cost so they can test their market quickly and easily. If sales boom, they can consider reducing the per-sale fees by applying for their own merchant account. If the market isn’t profitable, they can at least leave the marketplace without having spent a lot of cash to get their own merchant account.

Merchant Account Comparison - A Simple Way To Compare Credit Card Processing Accounts

January 2nd, 2009

Accepting credit cards online is massively important to any website that wants to successfully sell goods and services on the Internet. Back in the early days of the Internet it was accepted that relying on credit cards was not a good idea, because it was trying to apply a dirt-world system to the Web. New companies trialled virtual currencies eg “beenz”, but they didn’t achieve critical mass. Here we are, roughly a decade on from the people starting to sell on the web, still getting our plastic out of our wallets to buy on the web and so accepting credit cards when trying to sell goods online is still as important as ever.

Basically, there are two different ways to accept credit cards online. Let’s compare merchant accounts. Businesses can either apply for their own merchant account, which allows the business to process credit cards directly, or the business can sign up with a third party processor, who does the actual credit card processing for the company. Obtaining a full merchant account costs more initially, but has smaller per transaction fees. Using the services of a third party service provider costs less initially, but has more expensive per item charges.

Making the decision as to whether or not to get a full credit card processing account or use a third party processor is only a question of working out which would cost more money. Let’s look at two different business types and compare merchant account benefits…

In most cases, merchants who are actively trading offline and simply want to expand online will most likely be more suited to obtaining a merchant account. Most likely, It’s most likely that they will already have an offline merchant card processing account and will tailor that account to also do “MOTO”, which is “Mail Order Telephone Order” credit card orders and simply means that the cardholder isn’t present at the point of sale.

For one-person businesses starting out online selling new software or a new ebook, it’s important that they consider testing their sales using a third party service provider. The advantage to the new business is that there’s hardly any upfront cost so they can test their market cheaply and easily. If the market is profitable, they can eventually look to reducing the per-sale fees by applying for their own credit card processing account. If the market isn’t profitable, they can at least exit the market without having paid significant upfront costs to get their own merchant card processing account.

Home Brew Video

Having the right home brews kits will insure success when making that first batch of your own home brewed beer. There are several different types of home brew kits available and each one has its own benefits.  Purchasing high quality ingredients for a great home brew can be expensive, so it is important to try and get the best price for the best ingredients available.

There are many online retailers that sell different types of home brewing equipment and many of these will have home brew supply sets available at a practical price.  Some of these internet stores get their equipment from physical stores that are making space for new merchandise while other stores carry the products of smaller manufacturers that are trying to make a name in the industry.  Purchasing home brew supply sets from online stores allows you to compare a number of different styles from the comfort of your own home and the items that you have chosen are shipped directly to your house using a major delivery companies.  You may even order custom home brew equipment from one of these companies to have equipment that fits your needs perfectly.

They are experts in the home brewing industry and know exactly what you will need.  These online stores often have the best prices on the ingredients that they carry and will often sell their ingredients in bulk.  It is sometimes difficult to find particular home brew ingredients as their products change on a regular basis depending on which ingredients are currently popular or in season.

Some people prefer to purchase the home brew ingredients that they like from an online website that specializes in brewing equipment and supplies.  By purchasing the ingredients for the home brew on the internet, the ingredients can be shipped directly to the home without hassle of physically shopping at a store.  If you know exactly what type of ingredients you would like to order this is a good option because you can order the items that you want in a very short amount of time.

Some retail stores that focus on home brewing will have a limited selection of home brew supply sets available for purchase.  This equipment may be deeply discounted at certain times of the year, such as around the holidays or when the newest items from the manufacturers become available, so choosing the right time to purchase the equipment is key to getting a good price.  The biggest benefit to purchasing home brew supply sets from a retail store is ability to see the items up close and physically inspect them before purchasing them to determine whether they are right for your needs.  When purchasing equipment from these stores, it is important to look at the quality of the items before purchase to make sure that they will not fall apart as soon as you get them home.

You should only purchase home brew ingredients and equipment from an online store that has an excellent reputation and has an easy to understand return policy.

Mobile Home Foreclosure Leaves Banks On The Lot

January 2nd, 2009

When mobile homes were first being sold, most did not qualify for traditional mortgages, as most lenders treated them much the same as vehicle sales. After all, to avoid mobile home foreclosure, a buyer who could not make their payments could hook them up to a truck and drive them away. However, as more people began buying mobile homes and they became more a part of the landscape, lenders became more acceptable to providing financing and when a homeowner could not make their payments, mobile home foreclosure began as opposed to repossession as in auto loans.

Typically, the price of a mobile home is considerably less than a traditional home and during a mobile home foreclosure, the land on which it is located, is usually not included in the sale. This type of unique situation exists because the home can be bought and moved by a new owner and the land sold separately by the mortgage holder. Additionally, homes reclaimed during a mobile home foreclosure can be moved to a sales lot and sold as used and not necessarily by auction.

Loan Determines How Money Is Collected

Credit collection laws may vary slightly by state, but federal laws also govern the process of disposing of property confiscated in a mortgage foreclosure. With the homes being on wheels, moving them off the property may also reduce their value, especially if the new buyer is putting them into a mobile home community instead of on private land.

Depending on the type of financing obtained by the original buyer, the mobile home foreclosure process will be similar to the foreclosure process of a traditional home. The lender has to go to the local court and show that the borrower has not fulfilled their financial obligation and the only way for the lender to be repaid is to have the court sell the property on their behalf. The mobile home is put on the auction block, once approved for sale and any money over what is owed on the home goes to the owner.

The land and home may be sold together, if the home loan was granted in the form of a mortgage in partnership with the land on which it sits, despite being similar to repossession of a vehicle. However, in most instances of a mobile home foreclosure the land can be sold separately, unless it is a part of the original loan with the value of the land included in the collateral for the purchase of the mobile home.

As more people began buying mobile homes, lenders became more acceptable to providing financing and when a homeowner cannot make their payments, mobile home foreclosure begins…View more articles at www.foreclosures.jsgenterprises.com.
