Could jobs at Vauxhall be in danger after company takeover?
Thousands of jobs in the UK are under threat over the recent collapse of American car manufacturing giant General Motors (GM). The company were forced to finally file for bankruptcy protection in the US, causing uncertainty for all its workers about their future with the company. GM Europe, which consists of UK brand Vauxhall and the German Opel, has already been sold off to Magna International, a Canadian car parts company. But although this means that both the British and German brands will continue production, a fall in demand for car sales and car leasing deals could mean that Magna will be making significant job cuts.
The worry for Vauxhall is that Magna is a relatively unknown company in the UK, with ties to the Russian vans company run by oligarch Oleg Deripaska and the Russian bank Sberbank. The Russian involvement has raised worries about production at Vauxhall’s Luton plant, a joint venture with Renault where Trafic and Vivara vans are made, could be moved to Russia, leaving the Luton’s 1,400 workers without jobs. The German government also had a part to play in ensuring that the takeover was a success, leading to fears that all the company’s German plants could be protected and that if cutbacks in production and staff were necessary, it would have to happen in the UK. However this is all speculation at this point as Magna are still assessing the situation before making any decisions and have said they will do all they can to protect as many jobs as possible.
For Vauxhall’s 5,500 UK workers, all they can do is to remain hopeful that the company will recover quickly after the takeover by Magna, who obtained the company over other potential buyers including Italian car manufacturer Fiat. Car leasing and car sales will need to improve soon for the decision to keep factories open to be viable. In the meantime for buyers interested in purchasing a car from Vauxhall, car leasing could be a better option as it enables you to choose from a wider range of vehicles, and is less likely to leave you in a difficult position if the company suffers any further disaster in the future.

Do You Want To Know Where I Found My Cheap Used Audi?
Over the past few years I have seen very favourable reviews of Audi cars on programmes like Top Gear. I decided that I wanted to invest in one, but due to the depreciation of new cars at the moment, I chose to buy a Used Audi from my local Sytner Dealership. I was presented with a very large choice of cars and took my time to pick the right one. After a few test drives and much deliberation I decided to drive away with a Used Audi TT. The Audi TT is a perfect car for those who like the sportiness of roadsters, but enjoy the practicalities of saloon cars. The Used Audi TT supplies you with all the motoring pleasure you could wish for.
The very first time I drove my Used Audi TT I knew I would never find a better car. The smoothness of the drive was matched by the urgency of the powerful engine. I felt safe; cocooned within the tough body that has passed all of Audi’s rigorous safety tests. I also felt as though I was driving a car of great magnitude. The interior of the Used Audi TT has been designed to a very high specification and makes the driver or passenger feel as though they are inside a considerably more expensive car. I thoroughly enjoy every solitary driving experience I have in my Used Audi TT.
I still cannot believe I found this car for such a reasonable price. With only 10,000 on the clock, my Used Audi TT will guarantee me years of driving pleasure and gives me the feel of driving a luxury car even though I paid a far from luxurious price for it. I would recommend Sytner Used Audi for anyone looking for a cheap Used Audi TT or any other Used Audi model.
Buying a Used Car
Real life auctions are held almost every year. Cars as well as other items are sold at these auctions. You can find great deal of later model cars at a reasonable price. Since car auctions are held by the government every year, try looking for them at a nearby area. Second hand or old model cars are good money savers. But before you can buy a used car, determine whether the car is usable or not but try to find cars that are still in a good condition. Internet lists many websites and places where real life car auctions take place. Prior to purchase, find some information on the choice of cars. Another valuable source is the local newspaper which comes with endless car auction advertisements.
Cars with prices ranging from high to low are readily available here. Here you may also find used lhs, boats, speedboats, motorcycles, electronic gadgets and other useful household items. Joining one of these real life auctions is the best way to get household items at a reasonable price. Choose a car wisely and make sure it is the car that you want to buy. Also check for warranties, extra repair and other possible damages. Though cars here do not come with a warranty but if you are lucky enough, you might get a good warranty period. Compare prices to see what these are worth of. These cars also do not come with a RWC so be wise and keep track of what you are spending.
If you place a bid on a car, keep a fair price and make sure you own it at last. You may otherwise end up disappointed. Keep your payment ready because mostly they deliver you the car within two or three days. Not everyone knows to inspect cars, so before you land on a choice take somebody who can help you with these. Sometimes a lot of money has to be spent on cars before you drive. So, determine that cost and finalize the price.
How to Find Great Cars
So many people are tempted today by the overwhelming internet resources, that they will even place a bid in an online car auction, minutes before it ends, without having any idea what they are buying or if they really have to go ahead with the purchase. Online auctions do not differ much from real life auction and every bid should be made only if the buyer wants to buy that car. When you join an auction site, you will click and AGREE button below the legal agreement that you are required to accept before joining it. This agreement that is too often regarded as another quick mouse click is in fact a legal contract that specified all laws you might be violating in case you don’t go ahead with the purchase. So maybe, once in a while , it would be a good idea to actually read what we agree to do before clicking NEXT.
Important things to evaluate in online auctions:
- The fact that details are given virtually, as in pictures or movies with the car. Of course, they are followed by a detailed description, phone numbers, an address and so on. When you are comparing for example two lebaron cars, you should also compare the seller’s specifications to the ones in the original technical manual of the car, just to make sure everything is accurate. For cars that are listed from your surrounding area, the digital problem disappears because you can go see them for real. It’s the foreign cars that rise eyebrows. And the sad things is that the far away cars are usually the ones that sell for less. This means that in these case, a phone call with carefully chosen questions should placed, and a long and detailed discussions with the owner held.
- People placing bids without paying attention are also a problem. Well, don’t look shocked, you know you wanted to do this a zillion times. We all think that there’ll be another bidder for sure. That is a misconception, because every bid can be the winning one, and bidding equals buying in online car auctions.
- Some cars have incomplete descriptions, left like this by mistake or because they are trying to hide something. These cars, even if they are very cheap, constitute a great risk. Fortunately, you can track car numbers online or over the phone, and find out all about its history, if it has been involved in any accidents and so on.
- Fake bids that are automated and only intend to raise prices. You are not crazy if you think it’s a bit odd when someone places a bit just when you think you’ve on, making you place a bigger one. It’s best not to continue bidding in these case because the odd bids are placed by the buyers themselves or their friends, simply trying to make you place a bigger bid.
- Where the car is form. It’s quite a problem if you are American and want to buy a car from Japan, because the distance is enormous and shipping can get very costy.
Reflecting On Our Past, Can It Show Us Your Future?
We have certainly traveled far along the road of continuing improvements, haven’t we?When you really pause to consider the technology we have in comparison with the past, it is mind boggling, isn’t it?
The modern conveniences that are available to the masses today are incredible. Just one-hundred years ago, only a few people had automobiles. In today’s world, nearly every individual has a car. Some own more.
And think about the folks with mobility problems: Powerful stairlifts did not exist 100 years ago. Yet today. There are a range of devices for those who need additional mobility both in a vehicle and at home.
Today’s technology makes it possible for some folks to live a life that would not have been available to them 100 years ago. That is what is going well.
In reality, there are many issues that need to be investigated. Gum disease is a problem which is characterized in the beginning by the need to stop bleeding gums. It’s strange to imagine that we cannot defeat gum disease problems after hundreds of decades of being plagued by it.
Modern medicine may have slipped a bit on that one. But teeth whitening reviews abound on the Internet today. This is because at-home teeth whitening has become quite popular. This is something that really wasn’t available one-hundred years ago – not to the masses.
Here is a very important tip related to this, do not ever attempt to use lemon juice to lighten your teeth. This will cause damage to your tooth enamel.Lemon juice is really acidic and can quickly eat away your tooth enamel, please don’t ever use it on your teeth.
Medically speaking, it is getting better and better. Heart surgeries have advanced technologically. Howver, it makes me feel a bit sad.Where we really need to improve is in the realm of prevention.
At the same time, we really should develop our ability to work with nature instead of against. Are there natural substances that can clean our arteries and help us avoid heart surgery in the first place?
Despite that, I’m optimistic.Currently, I am really excited to daydream about what we might have in the next 50 years or so. I’m looking forward to finding out.

With its win in the sports car category of the readers’ poll “Classics of the Future 2009,” the Audi R8 mid-engine sports car underlines just what a positive impact it has on the Audi brand’s image, as perceived by classic car fans. Most of the participating readers of classic car magazine “Motor Klassik” chose the R8 as the current sports car with the greatest potential becoming a classic car in the future.
The German trade journal has staged this readers’ poll for the fourth time. Alongside 78 models from 1979, some of which have already become genuine classics, readers were also able to choose from 168 current models in seven categories. “This endorses our decision to follow up the Audi TT with a particularly emotion-stirring mid-engine sports car. In keeping with this special prize, the Audi R8 can now also be ordered with another classic, a 10-cylinder engine,” says Michael-Julius Renz, Head of Sales Germany at AUDI AG. Renz thanked the readers and editorial team of “Motor Klassik” as he collected the prize yesterday evening in an appropriate setting at the historical automotive location in Stuttgart.
With its third place, the Audi A6 scored a further success for the brand with the four rings in the category “full-size car of the modern age.” The “Classics of the Future” prize is awarded every two years.

BMW remains to grow in China
More of these articles and much more automotive news can be found on: Automotive News
The German car brands still keep to grow, though the automotive world in general is in recess. The car producer is not only doing well in Germany. In the first quarter of 2009, BMW Group continued to register growth in the Chinese Mainland market with a total of 16,580 BMW and MINI cars delivered to the customers, representing 13.over the same periode last year eight percent growth.yr.: 14,574 units). Automotive expectations in the east are good, and Chinese people still are buying cars. But just 10% of the Chinese public is driving or owning a car. One could predict the environmental issues if all Chinese own one or two cars. Luckily the Chinese government is trying to get people to buy only clean cars and reward it with half the taxes as would be payed normally.
Sales of the BMW brand automobiles in the Chinese Mainland increased by 14.four percent to 15,850 units, which includes 8,402 units BMW 3 Series and 5 Series cars are build in China. Sales of MINI cars rose by 1% in the Chinese Mainland to 730 units in the first quarter of 2009 (prev.yr.: 723 units).
In the whole Region China markets combining Hong Kong, Taiwan and Macau, the BMW Group delivered a total of 18,244 BMW and MINI brand automobiles in the first quarter, a year-on-year increase of 5.4% (prev.yr.:
17,317).
“Considering the current global difficult times, the Chinese auto market continues to be very resilient and recently showed signs of recovering the growth path. We achieved again double-digit growth for BMW and MINI vehicles sales for the first quarter, and relatively strong growth of 20.4% in the third month. Our new generation 7 Series will be one of the main reasons to our sales success throughout the year in China” said Dr. Christoph Stark, President and CEO of BMW Group Region China.
