There are different types of under sink water filter systems designed to hook into the pipes under the sink so that the water flowing through the system is filtered and clean.  The under sink water filters take a little more work to install them since they do have to be hooked into the pipes, but are still very easy to maintain once they are installed.   The under sink water filters often do a better job at filtering out the products that might be in the water than the refrigerator systems do, although they are still not usually as effective as the pitcher types of water filter systems because they tend to have a two step process for filtering the water.

What to Expect From Under Sink Water Filters

One of the down sides to the under sink water filter system is that it takes up space under the kitchen sink.  Another down side is that a person usually has to install the system which increases the cost of it compared to the other systems on the market.  However, the system in some cases will come with installation with the price of the product so that the consumer does not have to pay any more for it to be done.The average cost of the system is about one hundred fifty dollars.  There is usually at least one replacement under sink water filter so that the consumer does not have to buy one right away.

The under sink water filters usually come with a faucet that is what dispenses the water that has been purified so that the other tap water can be used for washing the dishes or other purposes.  The great thing about these faucets is that they often will fit perfectly in the sprayer hole of the sink so that another hole does not have to be made to fit the faucet in it.  There are some consumers that may be able to install the under sink water filter without the help of a professional, but they will need to have some of the tools on hand to do so, such as an SW-5 housing wrench. 

Many of these under sink water filter systemswill have some sort of alarm so that when the water filter becomes too dirty it can be replaced.The water filters are comparable to the refrigerator water filters available on the market today.The under sink water filters are replaced by the unlocking of the current filter and snapping the new one in place.

PUR water filters are commonly found in many different stores and can be found in different styles to meet the needs of the family and the type of filtration that they want.  There are some PUR water filters that are in pitchers and others that are faucet mounted.  There are even some PUR water filters that are made to be in refrigerators so that the water that is dispensed is filtered.The replacement cartridges of PUR water filter are very economical.  A PUR water filter cartridge usually costs between six to eight dollars and will last at least a month in most cases.  This can be compared to the cost of a twenty-four water bottle case that will cost from four to six dollars and will last under a week in most cases.

Types of PUR Water Filters

The amount of filtration that is done by the PUR water filterdepends on the type that is used.  The pitcher units will usually do a better job of filtering out the chlorine and the chlorine by-products that cause the awful flavor in the tap water.  They also usually do a better job of filtering out the heavy metals that can be found in the water, such as copper or lead.  The faucet mounted PUR water filters will usually do a better job than the pitcher versions in filtering out the agricultural and industrial pollutants that can be found in tap water, such as endrin or asbestos.  Both types of filters tend to do a great job in filtering out the pharmaceutical pollutants that can be found in the water supply such as antidepressants and steroids.

The refrigerator versions of the PUR water filters do not do as good of a job in filtering the water supply, but do filter out many of the heavy metals and the chlorines in the water supply.Fluoride is left in the water by the PUR water filters which is good for the teeth.  The refrigerator water filters are great because they have a longer life than the other versions, often lasting for six months without having to be replaced.The costing of replacement on these filters are not more than thirty five dollars. 

Drinking a lot of water is important to the health on individuals, offering the body what it needs to replenish itself on a daily basis.  It is even more important if the individuals work out strenuously since the body then takes more water to stay healthy.  A normal adult will take about sixty-four ounces of water per day and an athlete takes more than that.
