Funny golf gadgets

So here it is the top five golf gadgets to help improve your addiction to sport. A lot of these gadgets dont even need to be used on the course itself but can quite easily be used at home in front of the little impressed wife and kids. Some of them could even help improve the normal electric golf trolleys.

5. The tee that loads the ball for you
Brilliant for when you are practicing driving at your local golf course as this holds around 30 balls and at the push f your club the ball will automatically get put onto one of the tees which is a great idea for saving time watching the ball fall off the tee every time you bend down to put it there.

4. Get yourself out of tough spots with this brilliant driver
Of course this is classed as cheating it is a great way of getting out of a tough spot when your having a fun round of golf. This gadget is brilliant for when you get stuck in the rough as it actually cuts the grass off so you can take your shot as well as being cleverly disguised as a driver. Brilliant gadget.

3. A golf club that keeps your drink in it
This is great as it looks like a normal club but pours any liquid you put into it straight into a cup at the touch of a little hidden button. This gadget is awsome for when you cant really afford all of the expensive drinks that they sell at the clubhouse.

2. A chip island that floats
A great gadget if you have your own pool as you can pratice those chip shots without the hassle of going down to the course. These actually stick to the little island as they are made of velcro which is great as you wont have to keep jumping in to get the balls if you are half decent at chipping. Even great if you dont have your own pool as you can quite easily go down to the local public one and take it down there, maybe it wouldnt go down too well with the lifeguards but who really cares!

1. A golf ball that is remote controlled
This is easily the best golf gadget in my opinion as if you miss the shot slightly or its so near the hole for an eagle just a little push of a button will pop it in there for you. Although this is blatently cheating it is great for a fun round of golf or even for crazy golf as this would most certainly get you another free round.

Although your better off buying the plain golf gadgets like golf batteries these will help you if you want a bit of laugh whilst playing.

Golf Information Online – Make it Easy to Find

The popularity of golf means that it has spawned millions of websites. The amateur golfer suffers from there being an over-abundance of information.

When you go to a search engine they will often give you far more information than you can use.

For example just as a random search I have just gone to Google and typed in “buy new seven iron” without the quotation marks. The site has given me 18,600,000 results.

This is of no use to me.I just have too much to consider, particularly as a quick look through the first page of websites suggests a lot of narrow websites rather then a the general overview retailer that i was hoping for

As another example I have tried “golf course in Arizona”.This time we get 3,400,000 web pages returned.

It occurred to me that there must be a solution to this; a way of cutting through the overwhelming amount of information supplied by the might of Google.

One day I was struck by the solution (not a golf ball).

What I did was to create my own golf toolbar. If you are not sure toolbars sit as a line of icons at the top of your browser.

In the toolbar I put in my favorite golfing websites so that whenever I wanted golf information it was there at the top of my screen every time I was online. It meany my preferred store, course directory and news site were just a click away.It Made searching life easier.

What it means is that the best websites are right in front of me all the time and only occasionally do I have to go to Google.

I decided that it would be great for others to use the toolbar and it’s here. Its free for anyone to have a look at and download. It is guaranteed safe by the Trusted Download logo and loads fast.

It currently features a leading golf retailer, a special site for training aids, videos and books , plus a golf news centre, a weather forecast (perhaps the most useful thing of all), games, utilities and a holiday or vacation organiser.

The Golf News toolbar.

I have found it to be very useful and believe many people will agree with me.  It is completely free though it’s only fair to point out that if you do buy anything through the retailer on there I do get a commission from them.

Please enjoy the toolbar.

Is golf real still that popular?

In the last few years the gaming industry has grown immensly and it seems the problem with a lot of sports like golf and tennis is that you only watch them if you actually play the game. Are the comuter games getting close to the real sports or is it just me? The question is, do you burn the same amount when you are playing the sports on a games console? The real answer to this question is . . . perhaps.  Obviously if you are buying say a golf game for the 360 or PS3 it is not going to do anything apart from save you money on one of those electric golf trolleys.

The thing is if you were to purchase a game containing golf the only thing you are reall missing out on is the walking part of the sport. Let’s be honest, most pros don’t bother walking any of the way as it is. Game devlopers are always looking to improve the games they are making and this has become more of a competition than anything and the Wii is taking advantage of this by using its powerful motion sensing technlogy. When you’re playing golf it feels like you are playing golf and the same goes for tennis and any other sport where you only really use your hands. With the new attachment for the Wii due out later this year motion sensing technology will advance further. This is going to mean that game devlopers are going to try even harder to make the games more realistic than ever before. Does all of this really make a difference on anything at all? A good idea if you are short of cash and want to just have a laugh but not so great for all the time instead of playing the sport. No need to even be dressed in your best golf gear to play golf on any of the consoles, a great idea.

They need to concentrate on making the games you cant go out and play at a course better so people will have more incentive to go out and play them, I love computer games but its time to leave the sports ones where they are. It would be a great shame to see the people who start up playing sports and become big starts to decline due to the fact games are becoming ever more realistic and more entertaining.

So next time your stuck between going out in the rain for a round of golf or plugging in the Wii for a bit of a game, stop and think, the real thing is always better so charge up those golf batteries and get playing!

Stop Giving Me Golf Tips

Most people like to have a wonderful and relaxing game of golf, more so now due to the fact that we are in the midst of a huge credit crunch. But there are still a big amount of folk that enjoy playing golf competitively.

Some of the most annoying aspects of golf is when players think they are more superior than you and try to give you tips. This is a very bad situation to be in as it can put you off your game a lot.

The most awkward thing about golf tips is that not every person is the same when it boils down to it. It is not the same as any other sport such as Football or Rugby, swinging golf clubs needs your own technique, what may work for you probably will not work for someone else. Golf is a totally different game, I simply do not think that the more advice you get the better player you become.

The fact is that golf is a game of practice and training, you have to work out which methods are best for you. Here are a selection of some thoughts which could in fact help improve your overall play.

1) Try to feel the golf putters or golf club, get your body in a position that will be the most relaxed, not a position that anyone tells you to do. Just think about pulling back the golf club and stricking the ball.
2) Try not to be distracted by the difference in Golf Equipment. There are a huge amount of people that are terrible when it comes to golf, but they still insist the better golf equipment they buy the better they will be.

So summing up if you want to be good at golf, do not be a copy cat you should instead find your own unique style of swing and play.

The origins of golf

It was way back in the year 1297 that the game of golf was first recorded. This was said to have been in the Netherlands. The game was played with a crude stick plus a leather ball. Whoever hit the ball the furthest and in the least number of times was considered to be the winner.

The modern game of golf is thought to have originated in Scotland. The word golf may have been derived from the Dutch word “kolf” which means stick or club. The first 18 hole course was also in Scotland. Also the first written rules were said to have come from the Scots.

It wasn’t long before the game had spread over to England. The oldest playing golf course in the world is the Old Links at Musselburgh in East Lothian. It was reputed that Mary Queen of Scots played there back in 1567.

However courses have not always been made up of 18 holes. Early golfers at St Andrews made a trench through the rough land playing just eleven holes which were laid out end to end from the clubhouse to the far end of the property. Once reaching the end they would turn round and play back again therefore making a total of 22 holes. Gradually it was decided that some of the holes were too short so they became integrated and ended up as 18 holes as we know it today.

Golf equipment has developed markedly over the years It was in the 1930’s that the US Golf Association set a standard weight and size for golf balls. It was stated that the velocity of the golf ball should not exceed 250 feet per second and since this time it has continued to be developed and made an impact on the way the game is played.

Another big factor is of course the evolution of the golf club. The early ones were made up of wood. Hickory became the standard wood used for shafts and Persimmon was the choice of wood used for the club head because of its hardness and strength. As the golf ball developed and became much more durable it was then that the iron headed clubs were first introduced to the game. Steel shafts were said to have been developed in the 1890’s .

In the early 1970’s shaft technology was introduced to the use of graphite shafts with lightweight titanium heads which meant the head could be made much larger.

The equipment has been developed massively with the help of modern day technology and now we have more golf equipment than you would have imagined possible. Our forbears were not lucky enough to have such things as golf trolleys and golf buggies to transport them round the course. However one thing that probably has stood the test of time is the sociable drink at the 19th hole after a round of golf!

The New Generation of Games Consoles

A Huge amount of people enjoy to play games consoles, whether they are playing a full blown action game or a sports game the thrill of winning is great. But the Nintendo Wii has brought so much more to the table then any other console, now instead of just playing a game and tiring out your mind, you can now also tire out your body.

I myself play golf a lot and to be honest I did not used to be very good, no matter what golf clubs or golf putters I purchased it just did not help me. Well a few times back I decided to purchase a Nintendo Wii and it came bundled in with Wii Sports which included a Golf game. Obviously being obsessed with golf I decided to play this and it was just as realistic as any real game I have ever played.

After a few weeks of playing the game I felt very confident in my new found ability to play the game so decided to join a tournament. I didn’t feel I would get very far, but to my surprise I got through the first round and then the second and third, I was in the semi finals but unfortunatley I got knocked out by an excellent player who had probably had 10 years and more of experience.

But I was not going to get myself down in the dumps, from not being able to play golf to getting to the semi finals was a major achievement for me and it just goes to show you how much computer games have developed. I do recommend that if you are looking to get into any type of sport to go out and grab yourself a Nintendo Wii, within a few weeks you will have mastered your game. The wii and a nice set of golf equipment is all you need.

Basic Concepts Of What Makes A Golf Swing Bad

The perfect golf swing is the most important thing for a golfer of any handicap and experience. Greenhorns and veterans of the game strive to make their golf swings a little better than last weekend’s 18 holes. There are a lot of instructional videos and booklets that are available to improve a golfer’s swing but none of them will work if you fail to understand some of the basic concepts of what makes a golf swing bad.

The Set-up

The key element of a bad golf swing is sometimes not the golf swing itself but the most of the time it is the golfer’s set-up. The set-up may pertain to different things like the golfer’s clubs, his accessories, the clothes and etcetera. Some golfers think that a good set-up can make up for the lousy swing.

One of the most crucial mistakes that a golfer can make is underestimating the time spent on the set-up than the game. Some even think that they can have all the names in golf with them and just whack the ball silly. It may have worked for Happy Gilmore but it sure won’t work for Average Joe and his lousy swing because Happy Gilmore is in a movie and Average Joe is not.

One of the most important things that you should remember is that the set-up should not pertain to the clothes you wear and the clubs you carry, but it should mean the preparation for your swing.

Bad Posture can kill your game

If you are one of those golfers that overlook their posture, you should think of considering a new sport because golf is not for you. It is important in golf that you know when your posture is bad. The key element of a good swing is the proper alignment of your neck and head. The straight line that is formed by your head and neck will dictate the force of the drive that you can deliver to the ball and flight. Once you are hunched over the ball it will move to either sides or fall short of the green no matter how hard you hit it.

Another important factor is balance. You should have good balance to deliver a good amount of forward thrust to your swing. And unbalanced footing usually hinders a golfer from delivering the full impact of the clubhead motion to the ball. This is because of the uneasiness that the golfer feels about his stance. Delivering a solid blow usually means your footing should be sure. Posture and balance problems can easily be corrected with practice and good habits. After you have made your muscle memory comfortable with the position you want to achieve you will have no problem at all.

Chicken Wings

Chicken wings are good especially after a good game of golf. But when you bring your chicken wings to the game, things will definitely turn out for the worse. It is better that you leave your chicken wings in a basket at home where they can be the perfect in game munchies.

A chicken swing implies that a golfer may be having a bad habit when taking a swing. When putting or in a putting game, letting your arm and wrist go limp is what you call a chicken wing. What happens after this is that the golfer’s arm goes flying up in the air losing all the power to your swing.

Golfers who tend to take their swings lightly usually commit chicken wings. When you lose the power of your swing it usually ends up chopping or slicing your golf swing.

The Golf Basics In Simple Terms

Golf has been played since around the 15th century and it has been frustrating and delighting players alike round the world since then.

In essence golf is a very simple game, hit the ball from one part of the course to another finishing up by knocking it into a hole. But that is where the simplicity ends, which of course is where the challenge and achievement take over to make it such a rewarding sport to pursue.

It is possible to spend an enormous amount of money on learning the basics of golf and some of the equipment is very expensive and, for the newcomer, usually a waste of money. It takes experience and not a little amount of skill to effectively play with the latest drivers. Why you even see the professionals getting it wrong and see how much they practice.

So what do you need to get started in golf, what equipment is really necessary?

Well I recommend that you start by perhaps borrowing a club or two from a friend and getting some initial practice down at your local driving range. Your friends will always help you to start in golf but a pro will not show you his bad habits. If you are like most people that start golf you will already know at this stage that the game is for you.

Believe me, many people find out rather quickly that this is so, the golf bug bites pretty quickly! If this happens to you then the best thing to do next is to get some professional lessons. Try to book your lessons in blocks so that the cost is more manageable. Taking up golfing lessons is an important thing to do here as you will learn only good habits from the start.

Of course whilst you are receiving lessons you can borrow some clubs from the pro, this will enable you to see which types are the most tailored ones to suit your particular build and stance.

Yes this does matter, a great deal in fact, you will see lots of shiny new clubs in the golf stores but most of these will be useless to you if they are not set up correctly for you, this requires adjustments to the lie and loft of the club to suit you personally. You can have all the expensive gear but if it does not suit your golf swing technique what is the point?

Once you have your clubs and a few lessons behind you, you will need something to hit, some low cost balls to start with. Buying expensive balls is not a good thing to do at first as youy will lose too many. You could try buying one of those packs of ‘lake balls’, a very inexpensive way to get started with balls that have literally been recovered from lakes.

Finally, clothing. Shirts are readily available at any golf shop, use golf shirts particularly because they are longer in the body to cope with the movement of your swing, you don’t want to be tucking your shirt in after every shot it gets quite annoying.

One of the rules of etiquette in golf is that you will wear smart trousers on the course, but make sure they are comfortable and loose fitting.

Shoes especially need to be comfortable remember you will be on your feet for four hours or so walking round, this is not the item to save money on.

Hopefully this article on the golf swing basics has given you a good start from which to progress.

Lastly if you live in one of the wetter regions of the world make sure you get a quality golfing wet suit designed to breathe.
