Article directories are websites that are created to compile mass quantities of articles, arrange them into databases, and allow webmasters to publish the articles on their websites. It’s possible for anyone to write a brief article approximately 500 words long connected to the topic of their website and present it to article directories such as Ezine.com or GoArticle.com for free.

It is pretty easy to submit content. All you have to do is fill out a straightforward form and paste or upload your content to the article directory. Be careful when you are filling in the author’s resource or bio box section of the form that allows you to post at least a single link back to your website. Every time the article is published, your link will appear on the new website. High grade articles are often published on different websites hundreds of times, and each reprint is an excellent opportunity for the reader to click through to your website!

2. Joining Forums

The best forums for Internet Marketing purposes are the ones that you find that are populated with experts and bloggers in your niche. Make use of Google Search to locate superior, high-traffic forums dealing with your topic and sign up. Introduce yourself, start commenting, you want to become a prolific member. Add a link to your own website in your Signature which will be embedded every time you make a comment to the forum.

3. Building Hubs in HubPages

HubPages.com is a free of charge Internet society that you can publish one page content about your website topic onto a web page called “hub”. It doesn’t cost you anything to create hubs and you can create as many as you want.

Hubs result in an increase of traffic to your website in two methods. The first way is via a back-link on your hub article that leads directly to your website. Secondly, when you comment on other peoples hubs and paste a link to your own hubs with the comment.

4. Has A Twitter Account

Twitter is a no cost micro-blogging and social networking platform that provides you with a way to send and read brief text messages (tweets) posted by your peers and clients. While not a marketing tool per say, you can paste a link to your webpage in your messages.

After creating your Twitter profile and gathering more and more followers, you should notice an increase in the traffic you get for free to your website. You are permitted to Twitter about subjects connected to your site, direct your followers to your blog, or debate news about your niche while letting the world know what you’re doing.

Getting started is easy, just register a Twitter account and begin following as many people as you can. Other Twitters will quickly start following you. Tweet often; just make sure that all of your Tweets carry your link.

5. Use YouTube

YouTube is a remarkably elementary tool you can use to bring free traffic to your website. Come up with some videos that are based on the subject of your site, save the video on YouTube. Encourage your friends to subscribe to your channel. Have your site URL in the videos and include the link in your summery so viewers can go to your site.

All these tools can be used to generate free web traffic to your site and improve your search engine ranking. As you promote your URL, you’ll also be building up backlinks. Backlinks on popular sites such as HubPages and the most recommended composition directories rate better with the search engines. As your website ranking increases so will your flow of free web traffic.

Maximizing SEO with Article Marketing

You can effectively maximize your site’s search engine optimization (SEO) by having your article marketing outsourced when you are trying to sell a service or product through the Internet.  SEO is the process for getting the highest ranking possible in the list of URLs presented by the search engine as the results of a particular keyword search.  The possibility that an Internet surfer will visit your site is substantially increased if your URL is placed on the first page of the results.

More traffic to your site means that you have a better chance of selling your product or service and unique articles offer an inexpensive way to increase that traffic.  The first purpose of the articles is to allow you to place the keywords and phrases that you believe would be searched when a potential buyer of your product or service uses the Internet to look for your kind of product or service.  In this way, the search engine spiders will know that your website is focused on those keywords and phrases and will include your site on the results pages when someone searches for them.

An important step to take is that you submit your unique articles to the sites that collect them.  These sites that collect articles already have high rankings in the search engines so that the ranking of your own site will be pulled up because of the links to your site that are included in your articles that result in more and more backlinks to your website as the number of articles that you have submitted increases.

The second purpose of the articles is the natural generation of backlinks to your site.  This is because backlinks are taken by search engines, especially Google, to mean that your website is popular.  The more backlinks you have from quality sites, the better your search engine results pages ranking will be.  Also, you may gradually become an expert in your specific field as you get more and more articles published on those websites.  Many people would then like to provide a link to your website so that the number of backlinks to your website will grow even faster.

Therefore, marketing with articles on tap is very important in maximizing your SEO activities.  And if you feel that you do not have enough time to write those articles, you can always buy articles from an article writing services.  The prices offered for the quality articles are quite affordable.

Quality Software Will Help in Your SEO Efforts

I put a lot of my thought into developing strategies for search engine optimization (SEO) for my business’s many traditional websites and blogs.  Basically, an Internet business has only two choices when it comes to improving SEO.  One of those is to handle your optimization efforts in-house, while the other is to hire a consulting firm to assist you in the project.  I have three primary concerns about such companies.  Many of the consultants are not well informed about legitimate research about how the search engine algorithms determine rankings.  Some of them seem to prefer to respond to the latest rumor rather than relying upon solid empirical data; perhaps they just lack the necessary analytical skills.  Some of them are nothing more than linking farms that disguise themselves as SEO consultants.  These ill-purchased links occasionally allow your site to show short term gains, but those advances disappear about the time your check to the consultants clears the bank.  The last of my reservations about these companies, at least the last that I will mention in this article, is that they tend to be overpriced for the limited value that a business typically receives.

You should already know what my recommended solution is from reading between the lines of my first paragraph:  Take the time to educate your company team unless you want to hire the few very expensive geniuses in the field, such as Leslie Rhode, Brad Fallon or Dan Thies–if you can get them to work for you at any price.

If you’re going to follow my informed recommendation, you will need to take the time to educate your in-house staff on the fundamentals of search engines and optimization for them, and you must also be willing to spend some money for well designed software to assist in the gathering and analysis of the immense amount of data that will be required.  I have a review of the most important SEO software on one of my websites.

I have long been a long term supporter of SEO Elite (see sales page).  This Callen designed program has been a leader in SEO software for years.  I generally recommend it without any reservations.  However, I know that the company plans to release a new version of SEO Elite in the near future, so I hesitate giving it my full endorsement right now, unless you can find out if those of us who own the original will be able to upgrade SEO Elite 2.0 at a reduced rate or unless you decide to by another Callen miracle solution, Keyword Elite, because you can buy both at the same time for a substantial discount.  The combined price is a steal!

The other top level SEO software is Leslie Rohde’s Optilink (you’ll land on the sales page).  Leslie Rohde is the patron saint of optimization, a genuine genius.  Rohde taught me much of what I know about search engine optimization.  Pardon the intrusion of my ego, but I know a heck of a lot about the subject.

To those companies that can afford the expense, I strongly recommend buying both products (as well as the amazing Keyword Elite).  But if you are in a financial pinch and want to begin with just one of the two, I’m going to break with my longstanding position of suggesting SEO Elite and recommend Optilink, instead–temporarily, at least, until I have an opportunity to thoroughly test SEO Elite 2.0.

Optilink and SEO Elite are very modestly priced for such robust software; they cost only around 0 each.  If your cash flow problem is temporarily significant, Rohde’s company offers a much less sophisticated program called Optispider that is only around half the price of the better Optilink.  If you really must scale back to that level, you might also consider the similarly priced (0) Traffic Travis, by Mark Ling.  If you follow the link in the first paragraph of this article, you can get to my comparison of all of these alternatives, and there are direct links there to each of the software products.

I am a frequent user of both SEO Elite and Optilink, and I believe that they compliment each other marvelously.  They allow me to save hours upon hours of gather the data, and they make valuable contributions in assisting me in making sense of all the data they collect for me.

Search engine marketing – is it right for your business

Article by John Black

Search engine Optimization or SEO as it’s become known by, is an essential ingredient for any website to succeed.  However it can be very confusing for website owners particularly for those new to the entire concept of selling on the web.  There are sometimes three reactions the entire idea of SEO ;

1.  Some feel that it’s a waste of time and that merely the act of putting a website on the internet is sufficient.

2.  Some feel that they can just do it all themselves and that there’s not much to it.

3.  Many feel that it is definitely something that should be delegated to a professional and that their precious time is used more sensibly doing things for their companies that they excel at.

All 3 views have merit, for some businesses just having a site is sufficient.  The type of business that this would work for is one that isn’t very likely to have people searching for their services on the web.  As an example a personal Chiropractic practice in a reasonably small town.

In slightly bigger cities, depending on the amount of competing companies have websites online, it may be feasible to get superb results by doing a touch of promotion yourself.

For the majority , however , getting it to work well really does need the services of a professional Search Engine Optimization expert.
Search engine optimisation is a field that is continually changing and the systems and systems that need to be used to get good search engine visibility are also an ever changing phenomenon.

the brilliant thing about using Search engine Optimization to get your internet site to rank well in the search engines is that it is advertising that not only is working for you 24 hours a day, seven days each week.  It’s a way of bringing in customers that are actively searching for what you are supplying.

Consider the conventional types of advertising – paperspapers, mags, TV, local papers or radio.  They are all a sort of shotgun approach, sending your advertising far and wide in the hope that your possible clients happen to be reading, watching or listening to them at exactly the right time.

While with search engine marketing it is simply possible with good SEO services and a well set up site, to put your offering directly in front of the people that have purposely looked for your service or product by typing it into a search engine.

Another great thing about using search engine optimisation to lift your business, is that it is measurable.  Unlike more normal forms of advertising, it is wholly feasible to track what quantity of people come to your website.  Not only that you can tell where in the world they come from, which keyword phrase they previously found you, which search engine they came through and how many came thru each of the keywords.

with additional standard advertising not only is it a shotgun approach, in most cases it is not quantifiable and typically the costs concerned are extremely high.

Web Design and Search Engine Optimisation

As the internet has become increasingly sophisticated, the various professional fields in the internet marketplace have become more and more specialized. In each area there have been massive leaps in complexity, usability, design and technology.

Even just a few years back, there were relatively few separate specialties for people who work within the arena of the internet. These days there is a vast multitude of ways in which people can specialize online. These professionals include:

Web designers,Information architects,Google Adwords campaign managers, various types of program and software developers and last but not least, Search Engine Optimisation.

In my experience, most web designers these days don’t even know how to include Search Engine Optimisation in the sites that they design and build. There is ample proof of this; it is visible easily every day by just taking a look at what is out there. Websites that have either no or empty Meta tags no headline tags and in some cases no title tags! What is frustrating about this is that all of these are extremely easy to include.

So where does that leave the buyer? It leaves them with a website that will no doubt look fantastic; however the chances are that few will ever see it. Let alone become customers of whatever service or product the site is offering. This seems to be particularly true in the case of websites that contain a lot of flash, it looks great, but it is heavy in the browser and as it is purely images, the search engines cannot read it, even if there are words as the words themselves are rendered as images not text.

Therefore, when shopping for a website designer, be aware that though most will have the words ‘SEO’ or ‘Search engine Optimization‘ somewhere within their marketing or sales material. Take the precaution of checking that they actually know what that means, many don’t. The way to check it out is to look at sites they have already completed – particularly their own. Check to see if it has Meta tags such as the keyword and description meta tag, check to see if their title tags actually have something useful in them not just ‘welcome to company XYZ website’.

These things are simple for anybody to check out. The title tag contents are readily visible when you open any webpage in your browser, you will see it on the very top of your screen. To check the other parts you will need to look at the source code, you can do this in Firefox by clicking on ‘View’ then on ‘Page Source’. This will show you all the code of the site, the meta tags should be near the top just after the the title tags.

Finally, check out the code to see if headline tags have been used. Between them should be the main title of the page, including the keywords that you want people to find your site with.

The Million Dollar Keyword

The financial gain from a position in the top 5 search results for a major keyword can be very substantial, one example is a keyword that went from the bottom of the second page to the 4th position on Google.

A client’s website had a ranking of 18 for their primary target keywords on the second page of Google’s natural search engine results. Considering the number of companies competing for a high ranking on this keyword, a position on the second page seemed like a good accomplishment, but the volume of sales leads was disappointing.

SEO Works

A marketing strategy focused optimization efforts on improving the natural keyword ranking for this one target keyword. Eventually, the ranking for the keyword first moved to the number 9 position, and then to the number 4 position of the first page search engine results. The improved search engine ranking for this single keyword generated an increase in sales leads far more than expected, which subsequently converted to an increase in sales revenue amounting to over $1,000,000.

Tracking the Moves

The list below shows the search engine ranking relative to the number of sales leads that were generated from the company’s primary target keyword:

  • Nov 08 – position 18 = 6 leads
  • Dec 08 – position 9 = 31 leads
  • Jan 09 – position 9 = 126 leads
  • Feb 09 – position 4 = 102 leads
  • Mar 09 – position 4 = 207 leads
  • Apr 09 – position 4= 221 leads

Summary of Results

The increase in the number of monthly sales leads can be seen as the target keyword ranking moved up over the six month time period. The full benefit of the keyword moving from the 18th to the 9th position is reflected in the January total because the change occurred later in the month of December. The same applies to the move from position 9 to position 4 because the change occurred later in February.

For marketing managers and business owners who are wondering about the difference between having a major keyword listing on the first page of search results compared to the second page of results, this case study should provide some insight based on our experience.

It also shows an example of the potential benefit from having keyword search results listed above the fold of a web page as opposed to below the fold where viewers must scroll down to see more search listings.

Based on these results, there is clear evidence that a higher organic search engine ranking can dramatically affect sales lead generation and company revenue, in this case over $1,000,000.

8 Steps to Search Engine Optimize Your Pages

There are a number of steps I always follow when optimizing a site for SEO (note these are just the high points, there are others that I don’t mention here, but these WILL take you a long way):

1) For a new site, I will include the keywords in a non hyphenated domain name (if you can get a .edu or .gov TLD do so, otherwise a cheap .info will be ok)

2) I like to rename the URL to each money page to include the main keyword for that page.

3) Implement Google Analytics for the site and ensure the tracking script is added to every page.

4) Go through the “money” pages and make sure that the title, descriptions and keywords meta tags are unique and optimized for the keywords on the page. In a competitive niche (over 1 million result pages in Google), I would limit the keywords to one main phrase, a couple of local modifiers and one or two more closely related terms per page.

5) Review the non-money pages (i.e. pages that don’t matter from an SEO perspective) and ensure the title and meta description tags are not duplicates of any of the money page tags. Google Webmaster tools will identify this for you once your site has been registered and crawled.

6) I nofollow any links to overhead pages from all of the pages on the site other than the home page. I leave the home page links as follow links, since I want the SEs to index all pages on the site and having privacy, contact, disclaimer, etc overhead pages add to Google’s view of the “trust” for the site. On all other pages I just want the link to the home page to be a follow link, so I can build up the page rank of the home page. I handle this in Dreamweaver by using two different site templates. If your main keyword page is something other than the home page, modify your approach accordingly.

7) I then optimize each page’s content for it’s main keyword, etc. It’s critical that each word or phrase used in the keyword META is found on the page to avoid keyword spam penalties.

8) At this point the on page optimization is complete enough to start with link building. As you may already know, building links is tough. I use articles, blog posts, submit forms on relevant sites, reciprocal links, etc. There are ways to short cut this process, without going black or even grey hat. 3 Easy Steps To Optimizing Your Blog Post

Many bloggers believe they don’t need to SEO optimize their blog because they do not understand how important SEO optimizing their blog is. Failing to capitalize on this free targeted traffic is one reason so many new bloggers don’t make money fast with their blog.

If they understood how easy it was to SEO optimize their blog post, they just might get the free organic traffic they need to be successful. It can be done in 3 simple steps. These three steps can increase browsers to your site which can make the difference between a blog that makes its owner little if any income or one that becomes a great source of additional income.

Here are a few simple tips to SEO optimize every post you post and start taking advantage of free targeted Internet users.

To begin with, you should make sure your article addresses are search engine compatible. With free blogs like BlogSpot, this is done automatically and cannot be changed. If you use WordPress, then you’ll need to set your permalinks so that the code produces optimized url’s when you make a post.

To do this in WordPress is find the the Permalinks tab, and check the button next to the Custom field. Next you’ll put a percentage sign followed by the words Postname. {Immediately after the words postname, Now} add another percent symbol. Now all your blog post will have SEO optimized post.

The best tip to optimizing your blog is to put your main keyword in the Title. Let’s say you’re blogging about how to make fast money, then make these keywords the Title of your blog. If your blog is about Dogs, then don’t use something unrelated like your name in the title unless you also have the word Dog in there also. Using the keywords in the Title, then you’ll rank higher than if you name your blog something that does not relate to your main keyword.

The next requirement is to put your keywords in your Post’s title. If you’re trying to lure people to read your post about using Ebay to to make extra money, then your post title should have those keywords in it. Not something like How I Make Money With Auctions. Doing this prevents the search engine bots from figuring out what your post is about and prevents search engine users from finding your blog post. If you’re blog is monetized with Adsense, this tip will increase traffic while showing the highest paying ads for an increase in the pay per click you receive.

These three tips will be helping the Search Engines understand what subject your blog post is about. By taking a little extra time and making it easy for the search engines to determine what your post is about, the search engines will rank you higher than a non-optimized blog.

Building links to each of your optimized post is the last step in dominating the search engine rankings with your blog post. Ahh, but link building is a whole nother article that has to be saved for later. Get used to optimizing your blog and blog post before tackling the chore of building links to your site.
