The Usefulness of URL Shorteners

This article has been provided by Brave Media internet Marketing Vancouver

While TinyURL has been around since 2002, it’s only since the increase in the popularity of Twitter that URL shorteners like TinyURL and bit.ly have seen their use rapidly increase. Twitter, which only allows for 140 characters in any message, has made the service of taking a longer URL and transforming it into a manageable link quite valuable.

Twitter aside there are other reasons why URL shorteners are useful. For SEO purposes search engines consider the keywords used in the URL. However links that are too long and wordy are not easily categorized and hard to share with friends in emails and social media sites. URL shorteners make it easier to share links and some services like tinyarro.ws even let users choose their own keywords.

Bit.ly has received a lot of positive attention lately because of its ability to track and compile link data. This comprehensive information is invaluable, as knowing your customers’ interests and what other sites they are visiting can allow you to create more targeted content resulting in higher conversion rates. (Click here for more info on SEO optimization)

All in all the best thing about URL shorteners is their ability to promote sharing. With the rise of texting, smartphones and Twitter, URL shorteners allow for more content in less space, which makes sharing web content that much easier.

Mashable talks about the top five best reasons why URL shorteners are useful including the fact that they promote sharing, that they can provide users useful feautures, that they can be transformed into social media services, that they can track and compile click data and of course that they make links more manageable. Take a look at the complete list at http://mashable.com/2009/04/05/url-shorteners/

A Potential Way To Increase Your Online Sales

What is the best way to increase your online sales? How can I promote my website for free? What are the benefits of article marketing? Does article marketing work? These are questions that I am asked on a regular basis and are questions that I will be answering in this article.

I am a businessman from the UK who has various websites to promote the services that I provide. I am involved in providing online guitar lessons for beginners as well as with a company that offer a DVD duplication service. As like I am sure the majority of webmasters out there, I wanted to attract as many people as I could to visit and read the content of the websites. At the outset due to my lack of knowledge of the best ways of promoting a website I enlisted the help of people who referred themselves as SEO experts. As it turned out neither were they, despite their claims of being an SEO expert.

After some particularly bad experiences with these so called experts of the SEO industry and after wasting a great deal of money I decided to attempt to educate myself on the art of web promotion. This was about seven years ago and one of the first things I was to learn was about the power of article marketing. I started to write articles and was astonished with the results, I was gaining additional traffic that were coming directly from the articles and the websites were also obtaining higher search engine rankings.

Article marketing has stood the test of time and is still as beneficial today as it was seven years ago. Article marketing is a free form of web promotion which is a major benefit to the small businessman!

I aim to write an average of one article per day and have managed to do this for the last two and a half years, the results speak for themselves.

Market Samurai – Best Keyword selection Tool

Review of the top rated keyword tool Market Samurai

If I got to keep only one tool for my internet marketing arsenal, Market Samurai will get my vote. That is how high I ranked this keyword selector tool.

Heck, it doesn’t even have an affiliate program yet – which means I am not getting anything even if you buy it from this website.

What Do You Get With Market Samurai?

Market Samurai is in a nutshell a keyword tool but it is more than that. It goes so far ahead of any keyword tool that I have seen out there that I am using it more like a complete market research application.

Major Features of Market Samurai?

1. The Keyword Analysis module

2. The Rank Tracker module

3. SEO Competition Module

4. Find Content Module

5. Promotion Module

What Makes Market Samurai unique?

What distinguishes Market Samurai from its competitors is the depth of implementation for each of its’ module. For example, on Rank Tracker, you can drill the search engine to find the position of your page up to 500th place.

In the competitive word of SEO, this is akin to getting early warning system as you can see deeper than your competitor who may only be able to “see” up to 100th place.

On Competitor Analysis, there are of information that I did not even know before – but can be digged by Market Samurai in batches, saving you tons of time while at the same time gives you extremely valuable information. These modules are so well and tightly integrated that it is actually even more effective than buying separate tools to do the same job.

For instance, the keyword you chosen after running the keyword analysis tool can be sent directly to rank tracker. You can then add exactly which page you want to track with this keyword. From that point, you will have all the information about that keyword, your page and its position updated from a single interface.

I was also extremely impressed by the tutorials provided. They may sound a bit technical for beginners but these are precisely the things that occupy professional SEO experts. With this tool and by following the tutorials, you have actually entered the elusive world of professional SEO.

Which Categories Is Market Samurai Most Useful For?

I rated Market Samurai a perfect 10 on the scale of 1 o 10. Intermediate and advanced marketers will run riot with this tool but I am sure a beginner can benefit greatly by putting a bit of effort.

8 Steps to Search Engine Optimize Your Pages

There are a number of steps I always follow when optimizing a site for SEO (note these are just the high points, there are others that I don’t mention here, but these WILL take you a long way):

1) For a new site, I will include the keywords in a non hyphenated domain name (if you can get a .edu or .gov TLD do so, otherwise a cheap .info will be ok)

2) I like to rename the URL to each money page to include the main keyword for that page.

3) Implement Google Analytics for the site and ensure the tracking script is added to every page.

4) Go through the “money” pages and make sure that the title, descriptions and keywords meta tags are unique and optimized for the keywords on the page. In a competitive niche (over 1 million result pages in Google), I would limit the keywords to one main phrase, a couple of local modifiers and one or two more closely related terms per page.

5) Review the non-money pages (i.e. pages that don’t matter from an SEO perspective) and ensure the title and meta description tags are not duplicates of any of the money page tags. Google Webmaster tools will identify this for you once your site has been registered and crawled.

6) I nofollow any links to overhead pages from all of the pages on the site other than the home page. I leave the home page links as follow links, since I want the SEs to index all pages on the site and having privacy, contact, disclaimer, etc overhead pages add to Google’s view of the “trust” for the site. On all other pages I just want the link to the home page to be a follow link, so I can build up the page rank of the home page. I handle this in Dreamweaver by using two different site templates. If your main keyword page is something other than the home page, modify your approach accordingly.

7) I then optimize each page’s content for it’s main keyword, etc. It’s critical that each word or phrase used in the keyword META is found on the page to avoid keyword spam penalties.

8) At this point the on page optimization is complete enough to start with link building. As you may already know, building links is tough. I use articles, blog posts, submit forms on relevant sites, reciprocal links, etc. There are ways to short cut this process, without going black or even grey hat. 3 Easy Steps To Optimizing Your Blog Post

Many bloggers believe they don’t need to SEO optimize their blog because they do not understand how important SEO optimizing their blog is. Failing to capitalize on this free targeted traffic is one reason so many new bloggers don’t make money fast with their blog.

If they understood how easy it was to SEO optimize their blog post, they just might get the free organic traffic they need to be successful. It can be done in 3 simple steps. These three steps can increase browsers to your site which can make the difference between a blog that makes its owner little if any income or one that becomes a great source of additional income.

Here are a few simple tips to SEO optimize every post you post and start taking advantage of free targeted Internet users.

To begin with, you should make sure your article addresses are search engine compatible. With free blogs like BlogSpot, this is done automatically and cannot be changed. If you use WordPress, then you’ll need to set your permalinks so that the code produces optimized url’s when you make a post.

To do this in WordPress is find the the Permalinks tab, and check the button next to the Custom field. Next you’ll put a percentage sign followed by the words Postname. {Immediately after the words postname, Now} add another percent symbol. Now all your blog post will have SEO optimized post.

The best tip to optimizing your blog is to put your main keyword in the Title. Let’s say you’re blogging about how to make fast money, then make these keywords the Title of your blog. If your blog is about Dogs, then don’t use something unrelated like your name in the title unless you also have the word Dog in there also. Using the keywords in the Title, then you’ll rank higher than if you name your blog something that does not relate to your main keyword.

The next requirement is to put your keywords in your Post’s title. If you’re trying to lure people to read your post about using Ebay to to make extra money, then your post title should have those keywords in it. Not something like How I Make Money With Auctions. Doing this prevents the search engine bots from figuring out what your post is about and prevents search engine users from finding your blog post. If you’re blog is monetized with Adsense, this tip will increase traffic while showing the highest paying ads for an increase in the pay per click you receive.

These three tips will be helping the Search Engines understand what subject your blog post is about. By taking a little extra time and making it easy for the search engines to determine what your post is about, the search engines will rank you higher than a non-optimized blog.

Building links to each of your optimized post is the last step in dominating the search engine rankings with your blog post. Ahh, but link building is a whole nother article that has to be saved for later. Get used to optimizing your blog and blog post before tackling the chore of building links to your site.

How To Optimize Your Blog Post For Search Engine Traffic

For many bloggers, they fail to realize how important search engine traffic can be because they do not understand how important SEO optimizing their blog is. Failing to bring in targeted traffic is one reason many bloggers stop trying to make money online and go off doing something else.

Optimizing your blog post is very simple. Your blog post could be SEO friendly in just three simple steps. These three steps can increase browsers to your site which may make the difference between a blog that builds the blogger virtually no income or one that becomes a great source of additional income.

Follow this advice to optimize every post you upload and start taking advantage of free traffic from search engines.

To begin with, you should make sure your article addresses are optimized for the search engines. With many free blog services like Google’s Blogger blogs, this is automatically done for you. If you use WordPress, then change your permalinks so that the code produces optimized url’s when you create a post.

To do this in WordPress is to click on the Permalinks tab, and check the button next to the Custom field. Then you’ll put a percentage sign followed by the words Postname. {Immediately after the words postname, Now} put another percent symbol. Now all your blog post will have SEO optimized urls.

The best tip to optimizing your blog is to put your main keyword in the Title. If you’re blogging about how to earn extra cash, then use these keywords in the Title of your blog and your blog post. If your blog is about Dogs, then don’t use something unrelated like your name in the title unless you also have the word Dog in there also. If your name is John and you have a blog named Johns Dog Blog, then you’ll rank higher than if you name your blog something that does not relate to your main keyword.

The next requirement is to put the keywords in the Post’s title. If you’re trying to get traffic to come to your post about online auctions to to make extra money, then your keywords need to be in your post title. Forget about using non relevant titles like How I Make Money With Auctions. If you do this, the search engines will have trouble determining what your post is about and you can forget about getting free traffic. If you’re blog is monetized with Adsense, this tip will increase traffic while showing the highest paying ads for an increase in the pay per click you receive.

By following this advice, you will be helping the Search Engines know what your post is about. By taking a little extra time and making it easy for them to know what your post is about, the search engines will rank you higher in their listings.

Now the only thing you’ll need is to build links to your blog and blog post. But alas, there isn’t enough room here to go ito the details of link building. But you need to learn how to optimize your blog before tackling link building.

Pay Per Click or SEO

Are you currently choosing of which technique to use in order to make more money of your online business? Are you choosing between PPC and SEO and don’t know which one is better for you? Let’s review both tools of search engine marketing.

The major difference between Pay Per Click and Search Engine Optimization is that PPC is a sponsored results and every click you get will cost you money, while Search Engine Optimization is aimed at achieving good rankings in organic search results. It doesn’t mean that SEO is always free, as you may choose outsourcing your seo and hire an seo agency to do al the work instead of you.  SEO pricing may differ depending of the company and the services provided.

The main benefit of PPC advertising is that it is instant, you can create and start a campaign in one day, whilst Search Engine Optimization is a longer process, which may take several months and usually involves implementing some changes on your website to make it search engine friendly. You can not expect the results from SEO at once, but if you do everything right, you will be rewarded with higher ranks in search engines.

In contrary, PPC ads will be a permanent cost for your business over time, but will attract very prompt results, which can be very useful for short term promotions, as there is much lower initial cost involved.

When choosing one or another online promotion tool, you would you would like it to be the one, which can secure you some tangible results. Here you can face some problems evaluating the initial SEO value against the initial expenses of implementing it.
We all know that if we can not measure anything, it, can not be evaluated. Pay Per Click campaign can be can be evaluated very simply as you need to take into account money invested and profit in a relatively short term.

Pay Per Click campaign providers such as Google AdWords, Yahoo, etc. provide data on each and every ad performance.  No need to set up any extra tracking, as leads or sales can be tracked with the addition of a small piece of code, meaning that the cost per sale or lead can be tracked from the outset.
In contrast, measuring your seo activity results is a more complex process and requires an installation of website analytics package or log files.

Usually experienced marketing professionals suggest using using SEO and PPC alongside, as one complements another and you will be able to achieve better results in a long term perspective. For example, once a website has a good position in organic search engine rankings Pay Per Click can still be used for short term promotions, keyword tests and quick traffic attraction.

Choosing Your Search Engine Optimisation Company

SEO companies keep springing and thriving because buying and selling has become fashionable and rather practical in the virtual realm. In fact, thanks to marketing strategies, many companies gain enough ground to expand their activity and defeat competition. But in order to be known by potential customers, in order for web visitors to be exposed to your offer of products and services, you need something similar to regular or classic advertising that is practiced on the real market. This is what SEO companies come forward to do; the only difference consists in that their job relies on the specificities of the computer world.

SEO companies use various techniques and strategies to make sure that every time a potential buyer types in words to describe and name the product that you want to sell, he or she will come across your web site very easily. Starting from these keywords, the entire SEO strategy is built and managed. The very fact that your site will be at the top of the list with sites one can access when looking for products and services will guarantee visitor traffic which means potential buyers. To put it otherwise, an SEO company performs search engine optimization shortened as SEO. If the SEO companies are good at their job, then the product and the reputation you build for your own company will have a great deal to say in terms of success and profit.

The services offered by the companies of this kind may include SEO, pay per click advertising and feed management. The pay per click system involves payment for every click on the ads regardless of whether it earns you money or not. But then, the click payment is advantageous because more clicks mean more potential customers.

Top SEO companies such as this Isle of Man SEO company need to leave a good impression and satisfy their customers’ expectations, and may hence provide you tips on how to run online campaigns in case you do not wish to hire them full time. Because they are the experts, they know the latest techniques and strategies to be used in order to stay up in the traffic volume of your site. Consultancy may thus be available whether the planner manages your campaigns or not: ask for this kind of service if you want to run your own campaigns but still need some guidance.
